Weekend Writing Warriors: WHITE HART #13

Hello bloggers!

One last obstacle before Gawain and Gaheris face their final encounter with the allusive white hart.

“This place is strange Gawain. Unnatural. I donna like it.”
“Or natural for once.” Gawain said. The adrenalin had gone out of him from the fight and he felt wearied, drained and saddened by the loss of life. If it had been a life. He dropped his hand on his brother's shoulder, glad for the warm, solid touch. “Come on. We've got to get across the river.”
Gaheris nodded. “Right. We donna want to keep our watery graves waiting.”

Gawain of Orkney has not been to Camelot since before his father led a rebellion against King Arthur. Now that the war is over Gawain is sent to attend Arthur's wedding.

The night of the wedding Arthur bids Gawain to hunt a white hart -- a beautiful deer of unearthly purity. Gawain accepts the quest but the dangers of the wilderness become hard to battle when he is bound by Arthur's new ideals. Gawain realizes he may not be so different from the knights of the old, violent ways of as he had imagined.

Gawain does not have long to decide which life he wants to chase. Not all the rebels put down their swords when his father did. The knights of the old ways are planning an assassination and even King Arthur may not survive his own idealistic trust.

Weeken Writing Warriors: WHITE HART #12

Hello Bloggers! Happy Sunday. I hope you are enjoying the rest of the weekend writing warriors snippets. This week Gawain and Gaheris run into an unexpected adventure.

Gawain listened to the vibrations of horse hooves, the barking of the hounds, the snapping of branches, and Gawain's own heaving breath. He stopped. Another sound drifted through his ears. A metallic echo as distant and familiar as the practice yards in Orkney. He turned to Gaheris. “Do ye hear that?”
Gaheris nodded. “That'll be swordplay or I'm an old crone.”

The Craziness That is Life and an Interview at The Five Year Project

Adulting is not always fun.

Especially when it involves two hour walks in this heat trying to figure out how to get my car fixed, getting lost looking for my new part time job and arriving late for said job, angering my boss at my first job, and discovering the hard way that my brother who now lives on my couch didn't walk the dog . . .

Lost in the jumble of trying to keep up I completely forgot about THIS interview at Misha Gericke's blog The Five Year Project.

So it turned out to be a nice surprise when I got home and checked my e-mail ;-)

Check it out. Misha asks such lovely questions.

Weekend Writing Warriors: WHITE HART #11

Happy Sunday everyone. I hope your weekend has been great s far and getting better. This week Gawain and Gaheris are preparing for the final portion of their quest. Do you think they'll catch the allusive white hart?

Gaheris knelt to hook the spurs onto his boots. “Keep them pointed out.” Gawain said. Spurs were the honorary attire of an armed knight but he didn't want to risk hurting Gringalet. He'd seen Da return from battle with his war horses bruised and bleeding around their girths too many times.
Gaheris pulled out Gawain's arming sword and girded it around his waist. He thrust the knife he had taken from the giant Coromon into his own belt and slung the satchel over the back of the mare Gawain had saddled for him. His lips twisted into a wide grin beneath his too-big nose. “I think we're ready to show Camelot what Orkney is capable of.”
Gawain winked. “We'll show them more than that.”

Hello again bloggers! I hope you are all enjoying the weekend and all the snippets. Go here to read the rest of them :-)

Here's a piece from my new release WHITE HART

“The first knight of Camelot. Arthur's best knight and his worst.”
Gawain turned toward the low, knotted voice. The sorcerer Merlin smiled. A thin little smile on a thin little man. His long robes rippled like the surface of a lake as he sat down next to Gawain.
Gawain narrowed his eyes. “Ye question me loyalty?”
“No.” The sorcerer's black eyes were small, crowded by the frail wrinkles on his cheeks and forehead. “Never that. Loyalty is your greatest quality --and your greatest vice.”

Weeken Writing Warriors: WHITE HART #9

Greetings fellow warriors! Here is this week's snippet from WHITE HART.

Gawain chased the hart through the woodlands. The delicate slither of silver-white darted through the cavern of branches, drifting in and out of sight. Gawain's steps were swift but the hart's were swifter. The animal flitted forward, always another leap, another bound, ahead of Gawain.
Gawain's veins vibrated with the force of the sun. For days he had been chasing the hart, months, years. The earth's cycle rose and fell inside the hart's brown-black eyes. His breath smelled of crisp honey and the sharp brine of Orkney's shores. Gawain plunged after the perfect form as it bounded on and on into the forest. He never once paused for breath or slackened his pace and still, the hart was always ahead of him, leaping just out of reach.
